Allyson Felix

Allyson Michel Felix was born on November 18, 1985, in Los Angeles. Her father Paul Felix is an ordained minister in the Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. And her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix realized early on that she had an aptitude in running while attending Los Angeles Baptist High School. A mere 10 weeks after the initial attempt she made, she was ranked second in 200m in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. In 2003, Felix completed her high school graduation and signed a professional deal with the athletics company Adidas prior to matriculating at the University of Southern California where she completed her elementary education. The first Olympic medal came at the 2004 Summer Olympics held which took place in Athens Greece. Felix set a world junior record for running 200m in 22.18 secs. Felix was also the youngest to win the 200 meters in the world championships held in Helsinki in 2005. She was able to defend her record once again in 2007, by beating the long-time Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix participated in Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo and consistently placed among the top three athletes in her respective events.
